Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2025 • Last Updated: 2026-10-31
1. Overview & Zero-Account Architecture
At OutdoorsCalc, we respect your privacy and design our landscaping and hardscaping calculators to work without requiring user registration, personal accounts, or server-side form submissions. All dimension measurements, material selections, and local unit prices you enter into a OutdoorsCalc calculator are processed entirely inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript.
When you use the "Share" button to save or send a calculation, your numerical inputs are appended as standard URL query parameters (for example, ?shape=rectangle&length=20&width=10&depth=3) in your browser address bar. We do not store your project dimensions or local price quotes in any backend database.
2. Information Collected Automatically (Log Files & Analytics)
Like most static websites hosted on modern content delivery networks (such as Cloudflare Pages), our edge servers and privacy-focused analytics tools may automatically log standard, non-personally-identifying technical metadata when your browser requests a page. This information includes:
- Browser type, operating system, and viewport screen category (mobile vs. desktop)
- Referring website URL and requested calculator page path
- Date, time, and anonymized country/state network region
- Core Web Vitals performance telemetry (page load speed and layout stability)
This aggregated technical telemetry is used solely to monitor site uptime, fix broken links, and optimize mobile performance across devices.
3. Local Browser Storage & Consent Preferences
OutdoorsCalc uses your browser’s localStorage mechanism to remember whether you have dismissed or accepted our privacy consent notice (stored under the key outdoorscalc_consent_v1). You can clear this entry at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
4. Display Advertising & Google AdSense Disclosures
To keep our calculators free for homeowners and contractors, OutdoorsCalc may display contextual and personalized advertisements through third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense, Mediavine, or Raptive. When advertising scripts are active on the site, please note the following standard disclosures:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to OutdoorsCalc and/or other sites on the internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings (My Ad Center) or by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
- Where required by law, we present a Consent Management Platform (CMP) banner allowing users to manage cookie consent preferences prior to loading non-essential advertising cookies.
5. Email Correspondence
If you choose to contact us directly via email at contact@outdoorscalc.org, we will receive your email address and any information you voluntarily include in your message. We use your email address strictly to reply to your inquiry and never sell, rent, or share email addresses with third-party marketers.
6. Your US State Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA) & GDPR Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including California, Virginia, Colorado, and the European Economic Area), you have the right to request information about any personal data collected about you, request deletion of personal data, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because OutdoorsCalc does not maintain user accounts or customer databases, we hold no personal profiles on our visitors.
For any privacy-related questions or requests, please email us at contact@outdoorscalc.org.
7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance) & Data Security
OutdoorsCalc is a general-audience residential construction and landscaping reference website designed for adult homeowners and contractors. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personal information from children under the age of 13 in compliance with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). All pages are served exclusively over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections to protect the integrity of your browsing session.
